March, the green month is here. Because the wind is usually blowing, we will be talking about what the wind does, as well as the air in general. We are starting to do more science and math things and March provides us with some good experiments. The science table is crawling with rubber snakes and frogs, and our ants have been ordered. Also a big thank you to everyone who sent goodies in for our Valentine parties and for the special Valentines you sent.
I want to give you our field trip date for April. We will be going to the Pioneer Farm Museum in Eatonville. The date will be April 29th for both classes. This is a Thursday so we will be using it as our snow make-up day for the Monday/Wednesday class. We will be leaving the school at 9:15 and returning at about 1:30. There is a picnic area there so everyone will need to bring their own lunch. This is a really good trip. The kids spend time in the Pioneer cabin, a barn and a schoolhouse along with a buggy ride. Everything there is hands on and the kids really get a chance to see what Pioneer life was like. They will be able to do some of the chores and get to play in the cabin. I will give you more details in the April newsletter but wanted to give you a heads up if you would like to take a day off to come with us.
Our field trip this month is to Safeway. We will be going on March 10th for the Monday Wednesday class and on March 11th for the Tuesday Thursday class. They really do a nice job with the children and let us tour the back part of the store. Parents are always welcome to come along.
Remember to wear your green on the 17th.
February Newsletter
February……our month of hearts and patriotism. There are several dates I would like you to make a note of. Hopefully you have a pencil handy and you can get these on the calendar.
The first set of dates will be our visit to the Dentist. We will be walking down to Dr. Harding's office on Cole street on the 3rd or 4th of February. He and his staff do a really good job of a first introduction to the dentist. They spend time in the exam room, a ride in the dental chair, talk about oral hygiene, how to brush and see what the dentist does for our shiny teeth. This will take about 45 minutes of class time and the rest will be back at school.
The second set of dates will be our walks to the post office. The Mon. /Wed classes will be walking down on the 8th of Feb. and the Tuesday/Thursday classes will be walking down on the 9th. We just walk down and mail our valentines. There is no tour but…..parents are welcome to come along to both of those events.
The third set of dates will be for our Valentine's parties here at school. The Monday/Wednesday classes will have theirs on the 10th and the Tuesday/Thursday classes will be on the 11th. As always, you are welcome to join us the last 45minutes of class time and enjoy our parties.

On Wednesday Feb.10th and on Thursday Feb 11th, we will be having our Valentine parties at school. Parents are always welcome. We will start the last 45 minutes. The children have made valentine folders here at school and are encouraged to bring valentines for their classmates. The enrollment is 18 kids per class. To avoid confusion, just have your child write "from" and their name on the back. That way when we go down the folder line, we won't have to read to……………….on the outside. This really helps eliminate confusion. Thank you.
Because we are studying doctors this month, we have set up a mini General Hospital in our room. Our dolls have never gotten such a complete check-up. They are using lots of band-aids and giving a lot of shots .We are also walking with the crutches in the room so don't be surprised if they are talking about that too.
That's about all for this month other than to let you know that I have started registration for next fall. I would appreciate your referrals. Thank you.
Also thank you to all that were able to make the ferry boat trip. We didn't get wet this year and that was a real treat.
Happy Valentine's Day
PS: if anyone wants to bring treats to add to our valentine party, you are always welcome to do so. Thank you.

The holidays are approaching fast and we a busy getting ready for them. The children are going to be busy making things to put on our tree at school and for decorating our class in addition to making our Christmas presents for home. School is out on the 18th this month for the Christmas holidays. I will send their December projects home then. This is a very hard thing for them because they are very excited about their work. However, sharing is one of our concepts this month.

The important dates to remember are Wednesday the 17th and Thursday the 18th. These are the last days of school. We will be having a Christmas party that day which you are welcome to attend. The last 45 minutes of school is when we will be partying. We will be having an under $10.00 gift exchange. The boys bring gifts for a boy and the girls do the same for a girl. Please send it on party day. If everyone keeps their gifts to the limit, everyone should be happy. Some suggestions that have worked well in the past are trucks or cars, pretty ponies, Polly Pockets, make-up kits, small doll and games.
This year, as in the past, our classes will be helping needy kids with Christmas toys. If you would like to participate in this project, please bring a used toy in good condition, or a new toy to put in our box for Toys for Tots. They prefer them not to be wrapped. These toys should be at school no later than December 11th. This is voluntary. We will take them to the fire station for distribution. These toys stay in the Enumclaw/Buckley area.
Our next field trip will be on January 21st or 22nd. We will be taking a ferry boat ride over to Vashon Island I will let you know more about it in the January newsletter. Also, we have pajama day coming up in January and Teddy bear day after that!
Another reminder on the snow policy: if Enumclaw is an hour delay, so are we, but then classes will go until noon. Also if they are closed, so are we. We do make up snow days. If they run two hours late we don't go at all in the morning. This usually will not affect the afternoon classes. They will be on time. Snow days will be made up on Fridays later on in the year to make up for lost days due to snow.
Mrs. Petchnick, Mrs. Fisher and I want to wish you all a happy holiday season. We will see your children back at school on January 5th for the Monday/Wednesday classes and the 6th for the Tuesday /Thursday classes.
Happy Holidays to you all.

You are all invited to come and have a pre Thanksgiving dinner with your child's class. We will be preparing baby turkeys (actually Cornish game hens) corn and rolls. You are welcome to come to our feasts at 10:45 on the 23rd or 24th
A few years ago we had a big snowstorm in Enumclaw. Please listen to your radio or TV for school reports or closures. If Enumclaw is mentioned we will not have school. We have the same snow policy as the Enumclaw school district. If they are closed, so are we. The only change is if they run an hour late. We will run an hour late also, but will extend the morning by ˝ hour. That means our classes will go from 10 to 12. If still in doubt, call me.
Our field trip this month is to Mt. Peak gymnastics center. We will be going on the 4th and 5thh. Please fill out the attached permission forms and wear clothes that they can tumble in that day. This is a really fun field trip for the kids. And, we would love the parents to come along too. The kids always have such a good time and it is a great facility for our winter weather that we all know is coming.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
PS: I found a website some of you might be interested in. Ever wonder exactly how much fiber, protein and overall calories your child should be eating daily? The USDA has created a My Pyramid just for children ages 2 to 5. Go to: www.mypyramid.gov/preschoolers, enter your child's age gender and level of physical activity, and out come a plan tailored especially to him/her.
